Boss Mechanics

Mechanics are alerts given to players before a boss casts their special move.
Since the alerts lasts for a second or two, you must have reflexes to avoid standing on their tiles.

Red and Blue alerts can be fatal, but death can still be avoided by wearing Gift of Life.

The examples below describe common boss mechanics, not a set of attacks used by every boss. The encounter and selected mode determine which mechanics are active.

Normal and Solo Boss Battles

Boss Battles offers difficulties I to X. Normal and Solo have independent progression for each boss. Completing a difficulty unlocks the next difficulty in that same mode, up to X; a Solo clear does not advance Normal progression.

Where Solo is enabled, enter without a party. At the same difficulty, Solo uses 50% of Normal health and 50% of direct attack damage. Damage-over-time effects, fields and percentage-based puzzle mechanics keep their own rules; this reduction does not make every special attack safe.

For current Solo runs, ordinary reward drop chances are 65% of the corresponding Normal chance: a 35% reduction applied after bonuses and the 100% probability cap. Difficulty, contribution and the applicable reward table still matter. This is a chance modifier, not a guarantee or a 35% reduction to the quantity of every reward.

Solo changes only explicitly configured encounter mechanics. Timira starts vulnerable with room mechanics off. Drume, Grand Master Oberon, Keeper of Secrets and Abyssal King have their configured room mechanics disabled. Urbatulhu uses one red vortex under the boss, keeps its basin mechanics and has no summons. Other encounters retain their original phases, summons and room mechanics unless their own configuration says otherwise.
